Crocheting
Have you gotten over crochet for the year? I typically can’t stand crochet when it’s warm out. And since it’s more of a cold weather craft for me, I’m kind of surprised that I’m still happily hooking through April. Then again, it did snow just last week. It was crazy! I had the air conditioner on both the day before and after. But that’s Oklahoma weather for you.At any rate, I’m still busting out the stitches with my H hook to share with you and hope you’re still feeling it this year. If not, pin it and save it for when you’ve got to kick that heater on again! And unfortunately pictures just don’t do the texture of this stitch justice. So even if you just whip up a swatch to check it out, you really must because it’s fab and the only stitch you need to know is the double crochet. Unless you count the chain, which I guess I don’t :)Let’s go ahead and get this sucker going. This is super simple and just requires a hook and yarn, both of your choice.Chain any number of times (yay no counting!)Starting in the fourth chain from the hook, double crochet down the length.** Chain three (will act as your first double crochet) and turn.First stitch you’re going to go behind the second double crochet of the previous row. Yarn over and complete your double crochet, business as usual.Next stitch you’re going to go from the back side of the fabric and stitch around the next double crochet from the previous row. Yarn over and double crochet like you always do.Repeat over and over until you get to the end.As you work, you’ll start to notice that the ribs are forming on your front side. But flip it over and you’ll see that the back side looks exactly the same. Yay for no ugly backside! The process is repeated from the ** in the tutorial until you get the length you require. Super duper easy, no?Unless you have a cat craft assistant in which case you also need a handful of patience. But look at that guy! How could I shoo him away?
