You will not find a more realistic Pansy pattern anywhere. When you use natural looking colors it looks real at first glance! They make lovely appliques & brooches or attach a wire stem and make a bouquet of Spring flowers. Each color uses a continuous thread (there won’t be million ends to deal with!) and it’s made as one piece, no assembly required when you are done crocheting! This tutorial was completely remade (2018) with better photos, more concise instruction and a much smaller files size. There are now 4 versions included, the basic smooth pansy, the lacy ruffled pansy, the thick wavy ruffled edged pansy and the newest, the contrasting picotee wavy ruffled edge pansy. You will also receive a short tutorial on how to make the sepals and calyx. Not only does it makes the back of the pansies as realistic as the front, it solves the problem of how to attach a stem wire. Also included is a condensed text-only excerpt of just the written instructions from the photo-heavy smooth pansy tutorial, which all the others are based on. One page and no photos saves ink! The numbered steps correspond to the photos of the tutorial which you can view on your favorite device if you prefer not to print the full tutorial. This item is a digital download tutorial only, not a printed paper copy or finished pansies, you will not receive anything in the mail. You will need a PDF reader such as Adobe Reader to view or print the files. English language and US crochet terms only. File details: Pansy Tutorial, 12 pages, 71 photos, 4.86MB Calex & Stem Tutorial, 3 pages, 21 photos, 1.33 MB Condensed Text, 1 page, no photos, 8KB You can find a FREE pattern (chart only) for the pansy leaf shown in the photos at: https://foxstitch.com/pansy-leaf There is a separate version of this tutorial just for left handed crocheters, no need to mentally flip images around in your head. You can find that here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/607548878 Materials: DMC Cebelia crochet thread or other tightly wound thread, yellow & two other colors, and appropriately sized hook. Size 30 thread & 1.25mm hook OR Size 20 thread & 1.5mm hook OR Size 10 thread & 1.75mm hook. Additionally, a hook one size bigger if making the ruffled/wavy versions Gauge: Not essential Made with size 30 thread the smooth pansy is roughly 1.25” across (depending on tension) and only slightly bigger if made with size 20 thread. The biggest difference is the texture of the petals, not the size. Made with size 10 thread the pansy is roughly 1.5”+ across. The lacy version & heavy edged versions will be 20% – 25% larger and the picotee edge will be about 40% larger. You need the following skills: chain slip stitch single crochet double crochet triple crochet double triple crochet triple triple (ruffled version) working back loop only controlling tension accuracy & attention to detail patience! (ruffled version) The smooth pansy may be able t
o be made by a patient intermediate crocheter. The ruffled pansies are more awkward to make and appropriate for the experienced crocheter. More important than a specific experience level is patience and the ability to follow instructions. I usually make these pansies with yellow (center), a dark color (face) & white to finish the petals then add a little dye to the white portion of the petals. Step-by-step instructions for dyeing are not included in the pattern. A resource where you can purchase supplies and get information on the process is included on the 1st page. You can also use other dyes as well as fabric paints & markers. Of all the realistic flowers I make, these pansies are by far the easiest to add color to. It’s fun and I really hope you will give it a try! Finished Pansy Flowers are available in my Embellishments & Appliques section: https://www.etsy.com/shop/FoxStitchDesign?section_id=18917787 and pins made with these pansies can be found in my Brooches & Pins section: https://www.etsy.com/shop/FoxStitchDesign?section_id=18090409 Copyright 2018 FoxStitch Design You may not sell, reproduce, redistribute, or create derivatives, including translations, of this pattern without written permission.
